A New Chapter for Hamilton Wesleyan Church
As a church family, we have much to celebrate and even more to be thankful for. Throughout every season of Hamilton Wesleyan Church's history, God has remained faithful. Today, we honor that faithfulness as we celebrate the remarkable ministry of Pastor Dave and Carol, while welcoming Pastor Justin Green and his wife, Emily, as they begin a new chapter alongside our church family.
On July 10, 1983, Pastor Dave answered God's call to serve as pastor of Hamilton Wesleyan Church. What began as a pastorate became more than four decades of faithful ministry, lasting over 40 years. Throughout those years, Pastor Dave has faithfully preached God's Word, shepherded generations of families, celebrated life's greatest joys, walked alongside people through seasons of grief, and continually pointed others to Jesus Christ.
Pastor Dave's ministry has never been one he carried alone. Alongside his wife, Carol, they have faithfully invested their lives in the people of Hamilton Wesleyan Church and the surrounding community. Together they hosted the church's youth group for more than 22 years, opening their hearts and home to countless students. Many of those young people are now raising families of their own, serving in churches, and continuing the legacy of faith that began during those years.
Beyond the walls of the church, Pastor Dave has participated in countless mission trips, partnered with Youth for Christ, and found creative ways to share the Gospel through the church's Dinner Theaters, where he wrote scripts, directed productions, and encouraged others to use their gifts for God's glory. Of course, those who know Pastor Dave best also know his willingness to laugh at himself—whether that meant taking part in youth group games or even losing half of his trademark mustache during a memorable youth group contest. Those moments remind us that ministry is not only about sermons from the pulpit but also about building relationships, creating memories, and sharing the joy of Christ.
After 43 years of faithful service, Pastor Dave has announced his retirement as Lead Pastor. His leadership has been marked by humility, compassion, unwavering integrity, and a deep love for Christ and His Church. While he is retiring from the role of Lead Pastor, we are thankful that Pastor Dave will continue serving on staff as we enter this next season. His wisdom, encouragement, and continued ministry will be a tremendous blessing to both our congregation and Pastor Justin as the church moves forward.
Following months of prayer, discernment, and the faithful work of our Pastoral Search Team, Hamilton Wesleyan Church has called Pastor Justin Green to serve as our next Lead Pastor.
Pastor Justin and Emily share a heart for serving Christ, faithfully teaching God's Word, making disciples, and helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus. We are excited to welcome them into the Hamilton Wesleyan Church family and look forward with anticipation to the ways God will use them in the years ahead.
This season represents both gratitude and hope. We are deeply thankful for the foundation that Pastor Dave and Carol have faithfully built over the past four decades, and we are excited to see how God will continue to lead Hamilton Wesleyan Church through Pastor Justin and Emily. While leadership changes, our mission remains the same—to know Christ, make Him known, and faithfully serve our community.
As we reflect on God's faithfulness over the past 43 years, we are reminded that the story of Hamilton Wesleyan Church has never been about one individual. It has always been about God's work through His people. We celebrate Pastor Dave and Carol's incredible legacy, and we look forward with confidence to the future God has prepared.
